At the end of 2015, my family was lucky enough to head down to Florida and spend the holidays with my mom and dad. We made sure to bring the bikes for all of us, and we packed up the truck and headed out for a 19 hour drive down the coast.
This trail was one of my favorites throughout the two weeks. Just about every other day I would hit this loop. With the paved trail entering in through a mangrove bush, it opens up to wildlife and spectacular views with complete with creek inlets crossed with wooden bridges. Most of the park can be seen from a lookout tower in the center. Backside has loose dirt and shell with some fun turns. Lots to explore. As you ready this, the park continues construction for additional trail and wildlife preserve. Can’t wait to see it next time.
Brought my BMX bike and had to head to the local skate park. This place is legit. Its got so much to play on. So many lines and transitions to choose from. I don’t do much grinding and sliding so I chose my cushy little jump line down the side. Mostly played with my daughter Zoe on her Strider. She had a blast.
If you’re headed to Bradenton you going to want to go to Anna Maria Coquina Beach. If you’re into road riding, you can ride from here through Longboat Key to Sarasota. Or just stay local and take the side trail along the Mangroves down to Longboat Key. This provides a sick view of The Gulf of Mexico. Sunsets are beautiful here.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus having its roots nearby and a museum near Sarasota, brings a catchy name to this bike shop. They do a great job keeping everybody rolling. Stop by if you have any cycling questions about the area.
