Gravity East Series #4 – Timberline 2015

September 12, 2015

Cat 2, 30-39, Second Place Race Run POV.

Been a season and half since I recorded and edited race runs. Forgot how much fun it was. Keeping the GoPro locked on the lid from here on out. If ESC racing has taught me anything, it’s that having your own footage (evidence) is the way to go. : )  You can watch it here, or you can see the HD version here.

Seven Team Riders, Seven Podiums.

Let’s get right to it, eh? Sick weekend. We have seven team members come out for this one and we took home seven podiums. Super proud of everyone!

Pro Podium - Amy Leishear, First Place.

Justin Stuller’s first Cat 1 podium. Knew he could do it. And basically right off the couch. Good work Justin!!

Liz Jones - Second Place Women's Open

Liz’s first race back after a horrific helicopter ride off 7 Springs at finals in 2013. Podium!

Jamie Jones comes up off the couch after two seasons of not racing and lands on the box. On a 6-inch bike. Mr. Michael Render. Mike hit another drop this week. In his words, it “terrified” him. But he got over that mental hurdle and landed in the top 5. Sick buddy! Stoked!!!

Venue & Track

Really great place for a race. The mountain is super laid back. $10 all you can eat breakfast, food served all day, camping allowed at the base. Fireworks and ATV allowed. Lifts are super slow, but we were still able to get plenty of runs in. The backside of this mountain is amazing. Like, seriously amazing. They have a trail called Narnia. And if what you see at the top of the lift on the backside trails is any indication as to why, it makes perfect sense. Looks more like British Columbia than it does WV. The greenest and thickest moss covers boulders of beautiful, big rock. The moss is so thick, your foot compresses into it with about a 1/2 inch of cushion. It’s amazing. I can only imagine the loam…..management at the mountain were super cool with us being there. So friendly and so inviting. Thanks everyone.

Gotta thank Mike for letting me use his four wheeler all day. Shuttled Shack and Stuller to the top so they could track walk while the lifts were down. Real good fun!

What up Defiant!?

Gotta thank these boys for the hospitality on Friday night. Also gotta send a shout out to Cricket. We hike-a-biked to the top on Friday night. Totally drenched in sweat. Just to get one run in. Good times.
