What a final! Huge props go out to Joe Olivas & Dan McDonald from Gravity East for throwing down a really well organized event at 7 Springs Mountain. Red Bull was there, DJs were at the top and bottom of the mountain, the beer was flowing and everyone was having a blast regardless of the relentless rain.
Practice started on Saturday and the rain held but it did rain the day before making the freshly laid mud like peanut butter in many corners and even coming into the small rock drop under the lift. A few people went down, one even helicoptered out but she was OK; no major injuries (what up Liz! Glad you are alive).
A MASSIVE shout out to our own Justin Stuller who won 1st place for this race in Cat. 2 30-39 and also earned himself the first place over-all for the season. He edged out Kyle Sharp (who earned a very respectable 2nd place) with the 1st place podium in this race to take the over-all. Super stoked for Justin and so pumped to have him on the team for 2013. You can check out Justin’s race run on GoPro here.
Placed 8th and stoked on it. Conditions were so damn wet and so damn muddy. But the bike held. Made a lot of changes to my setup for this race. Not going to say what so as to prevent the corporate espionage tactics. (I know ya’ll are jockin’ my middle of the pack finishes and wanna know how I do it). Anyway, the changes worked cause I had my best finish in the series. About 10 secs off first and 2 secs off 5th. It’s the closest my time has ever been to those ahead of me. Bringin’ the pain next season, bitches. Click here to watch my run in 720 HD or be lazy and watch it below.
