It was a muddy friggin mess. Day one was down right sketchy. It POURED the day AND night before practice. T-storms almost all through the night. Surprisingly, most riders were in control on the course. The course was tight and some-what technical. Same as the Pro GRT course where Gwin and Leov took first and second, respectively. Glad there were no drops or serious features. At the start of practice, the rock garden had a broken off tree stem about 3 feet high and 3 inches in circumference sitting right in the line. It was like a spear waiting to impale you. Someone cut it out half way through practice. On day two, much of the trail dried. Much of it didn’t. The rocks were dry but the giant mud pits remained. The wet roots were sketchy. Logan Mulally won the Pro race with a really great time. My goal was to finish error free. Nailed that. Got a 10th and missed 9th by a tenth of sec. Shaved some of my lines so close that my GoPro got clipped off. It’s all in the vid below. If you have the patience, it’s kinda fun to see the camera get run over by the guys after me.
