Dirt Demo Days – Interbike 2009
September 26, 2009
Where to begin. The whole Interbike 2009 experience was incredible. I could never put it into words that do it justice. The best I can do is be brief, and show you as many photos as possible.
It all starts with the two demo days prior to the exhibit. For those that don’t know, you can literally visit / talk with any manufacturer and ride ANY bike they have in the 2010 line. And you can choose from riding that bike on shuttled DH trails or on really flowy XC trails. There are also pretty sick dirt jumps (lots) and a skills area. I’ll be posting images from the dirt jumps as well as reviews on the bikes I rode. I posted a whole bunch of photos from the show itself here. Stay tuned for new content or subscribe by RSS to be notifyed of new posts.
Our trip started with a coach bus that took us from Las Vegas to Boulder City, NV where the Bootleg Canyon trails where filled with manufactures, riders, trails and everything that is mountain biking. We kicked off the day by visiting our friends at Ellsworth Cycles. We then rode a ton of bikes. When 4 pm rolled around, we started drinking free beer courtesy of Giant and Ellsworth. See for yourself…..
The bus to the trail on the way from the hotel...Giant was looping video.
View of Bootlegg Canyon trails as we were approaching from the bus.
Donald working the Ellsworth tent helping get a test bike set up.
Donald and Gary. Good friends reunited.
Me and Tony Ellsworth. Cool guy. Glad I got to meet and talk with him.
Waiting for the shuttle to take us to the top for some down hilling.
The downhill shuttle seen packed. This is taken from half our hike up from the drop off.
At the top of the DH landing there is a a pretty sick zip line platform.
Gary at the top of the DH trails thinking about what line to pick.
A crazy cell tower at the top of the DH trails.
The view from the top.
Gary wondering what it would be like to blaze a new trail.
Gary starting out on one of the gates used for the races.
Titus had one bad-ass whip graphic wrapped and parked by thier tent.
Almost missed all buses back to Vegas. Had to beg driver to sit on floor.
Gary sitting by the shitter. Not a real seat but it got him back.
Day 2 - lines so long for bus, we took a cab and even hiked some.
Me at the top of one of the down hill trails. That's an Ellsworth Rogue.
To get the top of the better DH runs, we had to hike-a-bike bout half a mile uphill.
Alone in the desert with nothin' but my bike....
Ellsworth trailer. This is a new wrap for them. It looked great.
Distance shot of the Ellsworth tent. They had a good spot up front.
Free beer courtesy of Ellsworth's Project Pink. Lots of riders at the tent for this.
Breaking down the Ellsworth set up. We moved a bunch of bikes around.
Project Pink chica and me.
Check out the differances in Donald's knees. That leg with the broken femur needs some knee attention.
As the sun sets in Nevada, we see the bike companies all breaking down set ups.
Me & 20 yr old pro downhiller JD Swanguen (Intense Cycles). I think someone got into the beer.
Gary falls over laughing hard at all the shenanigans as we helped Ellsworth breakdown.
View of the Ellsworth trailer all packed up. Not excatly well packed.
